Rebecca Harper at The Sands Hotel Margate in conjunction with 2019 Turner Prize

Anima Mundi is delighted to present a selection of paintings by British painter Rebecca Harper, on show at The Sands Hotel, Margate, held in conjunction with the 2019 Turner Prize, from 28/9/19 - 12/1/20.

The Sands Hotel is Margate’s premier boutique hotel set in prime position on the sea front of Marine Drive, less than 5 minutes walk from the Turner Contemporary home of this years Turner Prize.

In the exhibited paintings, selected from Harper’s recent solo exhibition ‘Chameleon’ at Anima Mundi, the diasporic condition presents itself as an unfolding allegorical commentary. The works become a contemplation of transience, a theatre in which human instinct compassionately addresses ideas of settlement, a reaction to one’s, or anothers, transient restlessness and displacement and a complex dispersion of un-at-homeness and groundlessness.
