Luke Hannam Exhibition At The Saatchi Gallery

Luke Hannam is included in the three person exhibition 'Studio: Response[#2]’ at The Saatchi Gallery from 2-27 February 2022.

Saatchi Gallery collaborates with curators to select works direct from the studios of artists in order to present a range of diverse & experimental practice to a larger audience. The artists featured in Studio: Response[#2] are: Luke Hannam, Tom Norris and Luke Routledge. It is curated by Dominic Beattie.

Luke Hannam is a contemporary romantic painter based in Rye East Sussex. He is also the bass player and formative member of Post Punk band Gramme. Hannam describes his paintings as raw, romantic responses to the visceral experience of love and desire. Hannam's work is instantly recognisable by their scale and intense ferocity. Hannam is represented by the internationally respected Anima Mundi Gallery in St Ives Cornwall and had his first solo show with the Gallery in 2021.

The Saatchi Gallery is a London gallery for contemporary art and an independent charity opened by Charles Saatchi in 1985. Exhibitions which drew upon the collection of Charles Saatchi, starting with US artists and minimalism, moving to the Damien Hirst-led Young British Artists, followed by shows purely of painting, led to Saatchi Gallery becoming a recognised authority in contemporary art globally. It has occupied different premises, first in North London, then the South Bank by the River Thames, and finally in Chelsea, Duke of York's HQ, its current location. The gallery's mission is to support artists and render contemporary art accessible to all by presenting projects in physical and digital spaces that are engaging, enlightening and educational for diverse audiences. The Gallery presents curated exhibitions on themes relevant and exciting in the context of contemporary creative culture. Its educational programmes aim to reveal the possibilities of artistic expression to young minds, encourage fresh thought and stimulate innovation.
