Simon Hitchens in ‘The Hitchens Family : A Shared Love of Landscape’ at Southampton City Art Gallery

Simon Hitchens is included in ‘The Hitchens Family : A Shared Love of Landscape’ at Southampton City Art Gallery, celebrating four generations of this artistic dynasty and their shared yet diverse love and representation of the landscape.

Following Southampton City Art Gallery's acquisition of 'Land Quest' by Simon Hitchens father, the artist John Hitchens and the donation of a pastel landscape drawing by his Great Grandfather, Alfred, Southampton became the first public collection to hold works by three generations of the Hitchens family.

In celebration of this, the museum is displaying these works together for the first time, alongside works already in the collection by Simon’s Grandfather Ivon Hitchens alongside work by Simon himself.

The Exhibition continues at Southampton City Art Gallery until 4 March 2023
