ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS WORK
I’m swimming
the flood-streets
shuffling salt-stained
cards of my tarot
as the white storm
bares its teeth
and the billowing houses
spring to sea-chest ruins
I’m swimming streets ahead
of drowning Lyonesse
who’s vestals
are reaping the whirlwind I predicted,
whose windows cast the first stone to this very day

Esme Lansdowne is a self taught artist, raised in St. Ives and currently living and working in Falmouth, Cornwall. Her work is a visual response to the elemental forces of landscape and nature fused with expressive movement of the body. Of paramount importance is her interrogation into material where often pigment derived from the landscape she is responding to is sourced, processed and utilised alongside traditional materials, ensuring that paintings become both a physical and metaphysical rendering of time, place and experience. The aim and achievement is to capture something that is simultaneously ephemeral yet
ever permanent.
Lansdowne is an emergent artist yet has already exhibited widely, with paintings finding their way in to numerous collections. In early 2023 she is excited to be heading to New Zealand where she will spend time living, working and responding to this new environment.
