Eeva Peura was born in Orimattila, Finland in 1982, she currently lives and works in Helsinki. With painting as her primary working method she discusses topics both large and small. The dissolution of different worlds coalescing into each other is strongly present in the work. Peura’s pieces often have an ironic and tragic character to them while at the same time possessing a great warmth and depth. Each piece is an artefact that stands as testament of a more comprehensive narrative. Peura's works seem to be united by an almost anecdotal narrative, which is by definition a little story always contains something touching. An anecdote is always a promise of a bigger or longer story that may be told next time. The point is that the meaning or mind of a story is never fully revealed, but questions and open possibilities always remain in the viewer’s mind. When you look at the works of Eve Peura, it is easy to understand how works of art can move us in time, place, and reality somewhere else we would never otherwise end up with. The artist guides us to each other’s soluble realities and shows hand-to-hand how painting is slow, to be felt, and therefore capable of being so very moving. Her studies took her from the Orivesi Art School, to  the Akademie Výtvarných Umeni, in Prague, the School of Fine Art Kankaanpää and the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki.

Her work has been exhibited throughout Finland, notably Kerava Art Museum, Pirkanpohja Art Centre, Pori Art Museum,  Mänttä Art Festival, Lahti Art Museum, and the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts Gallery. She has attended residences including Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France,  SÌM Residency, Reykjavik, Iceland, The Saari Residence, Kone Foundation, Saint Petersburg, The Finnish Artists’ Studio Foundation, Utö, Finland, KUVYO Artist Residency, Berliini, Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Works are held in The Finnish State Art Collection, Helsinki City Art Museum and The Finnish Art Association alongside many private collections.
