ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS WORK
Kate MccGwire is an internationally renowned British sculptor born in Norfolk, on the broads in 1964. She currently lives and works in London. MccGwire's practice probes the beauty inherent in duality, employing natural materials to explore the play of opposites at an aesthetic, intellectual and visceral level. Her connection with nature and fascination with birds was nurtured from an early age, with avian subjects and materials a recurring theme in her artwork.
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2004 her uncanny sculptures have been widely collected, including Saatchi Collection, Thomas Olbricht collection, Reydan Weiss Collection, Shenghua Art Centre, Nanjing, China, University College for the Creative Arts, Hampshire County Council Collection, Temple Newsam Collection, Art Omi Collection and the Tia Collection. Exhibitions include the Saatchi Gallery (London), the Museum of Art and Design (New York), Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature (Paris), the Choistro del Bramante (Rome) and Glasstress, at the Venice Biennale.
